अमर वेद — Eternal Knowledge — in memory of Amar Nath and AmarVati

Background

Amarican-Indus Corporation (AIC) is a private, non-profit foundation initially set up as a public charity under United States Internal Revenue Service Tax Regulations 501(c)(3). AIC is located at 12509 Palatine Court, Potomac, MD 20854, U.S.A., within the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area.

AIC was established and has been fully financed to date by Vaikunth and Sujata Gupta — in honor of their respective parents, the late Sh. Amar Nath Gupta and Smt. Amarvati Gupta, and the late Dr. S. P. Aggarwal and Mrs. Kamla Aggarwal — and the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Class of 1974.

Mission

Provide meritorious underprivileged students an opportunity to compete with the privileged and study at one of the most premium technical institutions, by offering the training and financial support they need.

AIC's broader mission is to boost economic conditions in under-privileged regions — particularly rural areas in India and the USA. AIC-funded programs help those less fortunate train in specific technical professions at little or no cost, with the hope of building better lives for themselves and their families.

These programs include regional training centers with access to computers and online courses, support for students preparing for the IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), scholarship opportunities for students selected by the organization, and personal computers enabling internet access and online training.

Mission 1

IIT-BHU Scholarships

Funding 40 annual scholarships at IIT-BHU in perpetuity through a $500K endowment, with selection by IIT-BHU.

Mission 2

EdTech Platform & Sohna Center

An EdTech platform developed with an Indian technology partner, plus an independently operated implementation site in Sohna serving rural students.

University Partnerships

AIC jointly develops programs with universities so that online courses can be created and taught by senior or graduate students in technical professions at partner institutions. Participating students may earn academic credit for one semester course, and needy students contributing to course development or teaching may receive stipends from AIC, the partner university, or another AIC-funded nonprofit.

  • Develop partnerships with participating universities
  • Provide nominal stipends to needy students at partner universities
  • Identify under-privileged areas and recruit students
  • Lease minimal classroom space for internet access in rural areas
  • Provide personal computers to students in online training

Governance

The Board of Directors is entirely volunteer. No payment for services is made to any individual representing the organization — whether as a Board member or volunteer — other than reimbursement of expenses for fundraising activities authorized by the Board.

No part of AIC's net earnings inures to the benefit of, or is distributed to, its members, officers, or other private persons, except reasonable compensation for services rendered in furtherance of the purposes in the Articles of Incorporation. AIC does not engage in propaganda or attempts to influence legislation, and does not participate in any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.
